July 30 She walks!!!Yep, my "low muscle tone, she'll never crawl if you don't put her on her belly more, blah, blah, blah" girl is WALKING! Ethan gets most of the credit as he was clearly her inspiration (she would only take steps to him for the longest time). It's not her preferred method of transportation yet but she's pretty stable now and choosing it much more often. I have video and promise it will be up here by Friday. It's SO sweet! I've added 2 new photo albums and will let them tell the tale of July for now--lame I know but between our life and my need to read Potter, it's all you're getting for now, sorry!
I've also added a guest book (see the side module); I'd love if you'd take a minute to write something to Audrey for posterity. Y'all have played such a role in her course and I want her to know how many people fought with us on this journey. I had ambitions of asking for such sentiments for her birthday but never got around to it and since Spaces added this little feature I thought I'd take advantage. Someday I will find the time to print all of this blog for her but for now I will keep up with your guest book entries. Thanks y'all!
Look for video by Friday and feel free to bug me about it in between, you know how I am these days!
I'm off to read some Harry Potter! July 23 Where to start?Goodness it's been a long time! Sorry, especially to those who were worried about us, I appreciate the emails and will try to find time this week to respond. It's been crazy is all. I'll start from the present and go back.... The boys and I just got back from San Antonio Saturday night. My sweet and crazy niece had emergency surgery last Monday after a skull fracture from the previous week's fall started to bleed internally again. Yep, you read that right, little Caroline (age 2) climbed up onto the counter, fell and had a 6cm skull fracture. She was "fine" just would need a repeat Cat Scan but then nearly a week later started to swell again and upon return to the ER needed emergency surgery to release the pressure. Scary stuff and the stinker wouldn't really wake for nearly 24 hours post op so yet someone else we love now knows the ins and outs of Pediatric ICU. By Wed evening when we arrived though, she was nearly back to her old self and out of ICU. She was released Friday afternoon and should have a pretty helmet to wear by Tuesday to ensure no return visits! Her scar will make Audrey's look like a cake walk although thankfully it will be covered by her hair. The boys and I got to have some fun times with her brother while she was recovering--swimming, Peter Piper Pizza, roasting marshmallows, movie nights--mad fun! Please send some good thoughts to Nicole, Nate's sister, as she has this on her plate now too in addition to everything else going on. I have to say though, you better never have to mess with the Miller women 'cause Penny, Audrey, Nicole, and now Caroline have proved that they are as tough as nails. People have said such wonderful things to me this year in regards to my strength but seriously, Nicole has made me look like a lightweight, I'm so proud to know her. Audrey stayed home with her nurse and Daddy as he couldn't take off work after just getting back last week. She's just recovered from a nasty virus too so we thought I'd be more useful in SA if I didn't have to worry about her care as well. When we left on Wed she was just about over her virus. She's completely back now-- hasn't had a neb treatment since Wed, is crazy busy, and is starting to put back some of the pound she lost! Her grin when she saw me was priceless! I missed her SO much when I was gone, I was literally itching for her by Saturday morning. I guess I won't be going much further back tonight, I will soon though. We had an AMAZING 4th of July, a fun mini vacation to Galveston, a trip to the Star Wars exhibit at the Ft Worth museum of natural history, AND....Audrey is taking steps, Jason is working on swimming without a life vest and Ethan has perfected diving without holding his nose--these kids of mine are greatness, just greatness! Talk soon, |
